if youve boosted your armor via other spells (watch yourself, armor of earth etc) then you will not be taking double damage since it will just reduce your AV. hell, i was tinkering with an earth ele build tonight that nets +104 armor.

The -40 armor will not affect damage you take from armor-ignoring spells. On the other hand, have you ever gotten hit by putrid explosion while frenzied?

Not true. Because of the formula used to determine damage reduction due to armor, +40 AL is half damage, regardless of what its value is before.

you will not be taking double damage based off the number listed for the spell or attack, which is the point i was trying to make.
to the OP, the damage that build took was pretty low... air spikers could rarely break 20 with lightning orb. occasionally armor pen attacks like penetrating blow would land for 20-30, but most melee hits were under 10... if they could land a skill while in the ward , i saw a lot of 0s, 1s, 2s, and 3s floting over my head when the warriors came to play. mesmers and necros were a big problem... but then thats true really for any ele build.
